Top 10 Favorite Musical Artist

I love music and I am constantly listening to my iPod, whether before class, when I'm exercising, or just walking around I have my ear buds in. My iPod has music from Frank Sinatra to Ingram Hill to Britney Spears. I must say I love my music!

My Top 10 Favorite Singers:
1. Jason Mraz
2. Joss Stone
3. James Morrison
4. Duffy
5. Ingram Hill
6. Augustana
7. Gavin DeGraw
8. Paulo Nutini
9. Hanson
10. Damien Rice

Even though I do like artist who are high in the Billboard charts I truly love the random artist I find from listening to Pandora, music.yahoo.com, or from concerts I have been to. Most of the people on my top 10 favorite singers list are there because they have very creative lyrics and have amazing, yet quirky voices. By quirky voices I mean the voices that have something special in them, they are not manufactured like most of the pop music out there today. Jason Mraz for instance has an incredible range because he was trained in theater singing.

I also love it when the artist I listen to write their own lyrics. At least half of the artist I listen to write their own lyrics. When they write their ownlyrics their songs give you insight into their lives and even into how they see the world. For instance, Jason Mraz has the most interesting lyrics and the listeners can see how creative he is. Here is an excerpt from one of his songs "Clockwatching": So what if a two pump chump can’t last. But I made it to three and I foreclosed a five-minute fantasy on a short lived flight making love on economy." His songs are quintessentially his own and that is what I love about all of these artist.

My Favorite People

I completely love the people in my life. They have differently had an influence on me and will continue to do so.

My Family:
My Mom and Dad are great. They always make me and my sister laugh and are always there for us too. We can always go to them when we have issues, I know I have talked to them a lot a
bout the problems I have had with my friends and school. Here is a picture of both of them:

My sister's name is Jenna. She has became one of my best friends within the past two years. We will go to see movies or watch trashy reality television shows, such as Keeping up with the Kardashians or The Girls Next Door
, whenever we are together. Here is a picture of Jenna:

This picture with Jenna brings me to my next favorite group of people
The Ebrights:
Dan, Karen, Madison, and Isabella have become like a second family to me. I started to get to know them when my sister would babysit Madison and then my whole family got to know the Ebrights better when I started to babysit Madison when she was 13 months old. I have grown to love them. In order for Madison and I to stay close Karen and Dan asked me to be Madison's Godmother. When Madison was 5 the Ebrights welcomed Isabella into the world and now my mom is Isabella's Godmother. Karen and Dan are like an aunt and uncle to me because I was never close to my real aunts and uncles. They are the nicest people in the world and are willing to help you out with anything. Here is a picture of their beautiful family (from left to right Madison, Karen, Isabella, and Dan):

The last person who means the world to me is Danielle:
Danielle has been my best friend since the fourth grade. We have been through so much together and we have managed to stay best friends to this day. There are almost daily telephone or AIM conversations between us about boys, what happened throughout our day, and the list goes on. Knowing all of the crap she has been through she has definitely became one of my heroes. Here is picture of the me and Danielle:

I definitely would not be the person I am today if it were not for these people. They are definitely the people I will have in my life for the rest of my life because as cheesy as this sounds but no matter how much we fight we will always have each others back.

100 Greatest Movies according to AFI

For about a year now my friend, Danielle, and I have been on a mission to watch the 100 Greatest Movies on the American Film Institutes list. I think this is the most amount of movies I have watched in my life, or at least it feels this way. The movies on this list are usually chosen for what they have done for the movie industry in general not because they have amazing story lines. So far I have watched 46 out the 100 movies on the list. I could be further but the movie rentals around my town are complete crap.
Top 10 Movies from AFI
1. Citizen Kane
2. The Godfather
3. Casablanca
4. Raging Bull
5. Singin' in the Rain
6. Gone with the Wind
7. Lawrence of Arabia
8. Schindler's List
9. Vertigo
10. The Wizard of Oz

Top 10 according to MY List
1. Vertigo
2. Psycho
3. Singin' in the Rain
4. Some Like it Hot
5. Mr. Smith Goes to Washington
6. Tootsie
7. The Silence of the Lambs
8. A Night at the Opera
9. Swing Time
10. 12 Angry Men

I tend to disagree with the top movies AFI has listed as the best because I like when the movies have a better plot and capture my attention. The movies in the Top 100 on AFI's list have been given this honor because these movies have done specific things to help cinematography progress throughout the ages. For instance, Citizen Kane (one of my least favorite movies) is number one because of its great cinematography with crisp coloring, even though it is in black and white, and because it impersonated William Randolph Hearst. Hearst was a newspaper tycoon and this movie ruffled his feathers especially because it talked about his mistress.

I am extremely happy Danielle and I have started this list because the movies I like and the criteria I judge other movies with have drastically changed.
